Patio Heater or Fire Pit
Summers in Ireland are predictably unpredictable. It isn’t always as warm as we expect it to be. You don’t want guests to be cold and uncomfortable, so why not invest in a heat source for your BBQ get-together? Here, we’ll discuss patio heaters and fire pits so that you can choose the right source for you.
Safety
Patio heaters are generally quite safe, so long as they have been properly installed. It can be hot to touch but does not give off any kind of sparks. Patio heaters give off no smoke or ash so they are very easy to maintain. The main safety concern with patio heaters is that the cords can be a trip hazard if people are not watching where they are walking. On the other hand, fire pits can give off sparks which may escape the fire pit area. This makes them potentially dangers for pets and children who may not understand that it is not safe to stand close to the pit. These sparks can also catch onto leaves of grass which can cause another fire. For this reason, fire pits should never be left unattended and require a little bit more work when it comes to supervision.
Ease-Of-Use
It is easy to control the temperature of a patio heater as you can adjust the switches and turn it off and on easily. The ease-of-use with fire pits will depend on the type of fire pit. Wood-burning fire pits are more difficult to control as it requires rearranging the logs, which are required to start it in the first place. Gas fire pits are much easier to start and control.
Heating Space
Patio heaters are able to efficiently heat up a large space while fire pits only really heat the immediate area which surrounds it.
Lighting
Some patio heaters come with lights installed but this is not always the case. However, fire pits can act as both a heat and light source.
Aesthetic Appeal
The patio heater models vary, but most are not designed for their visual appeal. Fire pits bring a sense of cosiness and are designed to be visually appealing and homely. Fire pits function as a focal point that creates a warm, glowing ambiance for people to gather around and enjoy the atmosphere. There are also plenty of designs to choose from so you can pick a fire pit that suits the style of your home.
Other Uses
Patio heaters can only be used for heating but fire pits can also be used for cooking on, making them a fun choice for social gatherings. One of the many joys that fire pits can bring is the ability to roast marshmallows and make s’mores.
